At Whiteout, we believe every athlete deserves a fair and thoughtful team placement process. For the 2026–27 season, we are making significant changes to how and when tryouts happen. Please read this page carefully so your family is ready for the season ahead.

Whiteout Volleyball 2026–27 Tryouts

What's Changing for 2026–27

Whiteout is moving primary tryouts to the first week of August. This change brings us in line with USA Volleyball's national calendar and the practice of the vast majority of club programs across Colorado and the country.

How the New Structure Works

The 2026–27 season uses two evaluation points instead of one.

Tryouts for older teams will be in August. All 15s through 18s players who want a spot must attend. Within about a week of tryouts, we will deliver an offer to players. We do not assign players to specific teams in August. The August offer confirms a spot in your daughter's age group. To hold that spot, players pay one fourth of season dues by August 31.

The second evaluation happens in November, after the high school volleyball season ends. Every player holding a spot from August comes back for an evaluation. This is where we make final team placements. Players may move up to a higher-level team based on growth between August and November, or stay at the level they were placed in August. The August spot guarantees at least a placement within your daughter's own age group, so November can move her up but cannot move her down.

We built it this way because a lot can happen between August and November. Kids grow. They put in work over the high school season. They come back stronger. The November evaluation gives our coaches an honest second look so final placements reflect where each player actually is at the start of the competitive season, not where she was in early August. If your athlete wants a spot on a Whiteout team this season, August tryouts are required.

How to Register

You'll need two things in place before tryouts. Both are required.

  1. Active RMR Membership. All players must hold a current Rocky Mountain Region USA Volleyball membership to participate. If you were a member last year, your membership is valid through August 31, 2026. If you are new to RMR, please secure a Tryout Membership before tryouts. 👉 Purchase RMR Membership

  2. OCS Portal Account. All team offers come through the Rocky Mountain Region's Official Commitment System (OCS). Every player, new and returning, needs an active OCS account to receive an offer from Whiteout. 👉 Set up or verify your OCS account and verify your email address so you don't miss your offer

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This change brings us in line with USA Volleyball's national calendar and the practice of the vast majority of club programs across Colorado and the country. Moving to August gives our teams more time to train and develop together, lets us register for top tournaments before they fill, and lets us recruit and retain stronger coaches. We worked through this decision with our board, our staff, and the high school program before making it.

  • No. We coordinated directly with the new high school coach about this change. August 4 and 5 fall before high school tryouts and the start of the high school season, so multi-sport athletes can do both.

  • Similar to previous years, it your athlete cannot attend August tryouts, we will let you know if any available spots in her age group are open.

    We cannot guarantee a place for late arrivals. If her age group is full, there will be no spot. We strongly encourage families to plan around August 4 and 5.

  • The November evaluation exists for exactly this reason. A lot can happen in three months. Kids grow, put in work, and come back stronger. Coaches will look at every player with fresh eyes. Players may move up to a higher-level team based on growth between August and November. The August spot guarantees at minimum a placement within her own age group, so November can move her up but cannot move her down.

  • In some cases, yes. Coaches may place a player in an older age group based on skill, readiness, and team need. This is a rare decision and only happens when it clearly benefits both the player and the program. Players cannot play in a younger age group.

  • No. August tryouts confirm whether she has a spot in her age group. Specific team assignments (for example, our higher and lower team within the same age group, if applicable) are determined at the November evaluation.

  • The Executive Director, Program Director, and head coaches make placement decisions collaboratively. We consider tryout performance, positional needs, coach input, developmental fit, and player conduct, attitude, and commitment.

  • The fee covers the cost of running tryouts, including coach time, gym rental, and administrative costs. If your athlete attends tryouts and is not placed on a team, we refund the fee in full.

  • After August tryouts, families notified that their athlete has earned a spot pay ¼ of season dues by August 31 to hold the spot. This deposit goes toward total season fees. Deposits are non-refundable, with exceptions only made for extenuating circumstances.

  • Please contact us as soon as possible at whiteoutvolleyball@gmail.com. We will do our best to work with families on a case-by-case basis, but we cannot guarantee an alternative tryout.

  • All Whiteout offers are delivered through the Rocky Mountain Region's OCS Portal. Every player needs an active OCS account with a verified email address before tryouts. Offers remain open for a minimum of 48 hours. Players accept offers through the portal. Whiteout does not honor verbal offers or pre-offers.
